YOU WANT TO LEARN, THEN MAKE SPANISH YOUR GOAL!
In the many years of my teaching experience to young and adult students, I have come across many interesting lessons.
Teaching is very much like learning:
You need to dedicate Time and Space to it so that you feel SUCCESSFUL!!!
It is a never ending process, always evolving, always getting better.
No one can learn for you, no one can teach you all.
These are some IMPORTANT things that I present to you HERE, so that you REFLECT on each of them.
The sooner you realize that YOU ARE LEARNING and the PROCESS of LEARNING is YOURS to make it happen, the better!
HOW TO EVALUATE YOUR OWN PROGRESS in the new language:
Ask yourself these questions and be honest about your answer. Maybe you are not at that point you want to achieve yet. But if you REALIZE it now, it means you can make it happen by changing your attitude and behaviour towards your desired OUTCOME.
OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM: here is where most of your learning takes place. The classroom is just a place to feel comfortable sharing, to ask questions and to get the main ideas so that you can expand when you go home and are on your own.
-How much time do I dedicate to study Spanish on my own every day?
-Do I search Spanish-speaking websites, radio stations, tv-programs, movies, etc.
-What can I do to learn faster?
-Do I look for other Spanish-speakers to practise?
-HOMEWORK: How do I do my Spanish homework (HW)?
-Do I give myself enough time to go through the HW? (30-60 minutes)
-Do I get ready my textbook, homework book and notebook, dictionary before I sit down home to do my HW?
-How do I complete my HW? Do I read it all carefully and complete my assignments to the best of my abilities?
-How important is to complete my assignments on time when learning a new language?
-Why is it important to do HW?
-How often do I study Spanish outside the classroom?
-What is the purpose of studying Spanish outside the classroom?
-Do I find myself studying the night before my quiz/exam JUST to pass my quiz/exam?
-What is my attitude and behaviour in class?
-Do I remain attentive, positive and engaged throughout the lesson?
-How much Spanish do I use with my classmates when we do partner/group work?
-Am I eager to participate in class?
-Am I positive and energetic during the lesson?
-Do I like to ask questions when I am not sure about something?
-Do I visit my teacher during my lab time?
As you see, there are many important questions that YOU need to reflect on by YOURSELF, and take into consideration
as you are learning a new language.
I HOPE YOU REALIZE that LEARNING a NEW LANGUAGE requires first all your EFFORTS, your MOTIVATION
and YOUR HARD WORK...And that every single human being that learns a new language goes through some stages that include: frustration, insecurity and even fear to fail. But you CAN COPE if YOU CONTINUE the process of LEARNING. It is just part of the process of LEARNING A NEW LANGUAGE and it will make YOU STRONG and SELF-CONFIDENT.
THE REWARDS though are VERY BIG and last for a lifetime: you will be able to travel and enjoy your interactions with local people, your mind will expand and your life will become much more INTERESTING and MEANINGFUL.
SO, BE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN LEARNING from NOW ON, and BECOME a FLUENT SPANISH SPEAKER!
I will support your journey throughout the YEAR!!!
