PROYECTO PARA TERM#4
Hola, this Term# 4, our project will be as follows: You are going to be an exchange student at a Spanish University in the near future. As such, you are going to have lots of new Spanish experiences every day. You are going to the university, you go to eat delicious food at night, you enjoy nice weather in the four seasons, you live in the home of a Spanish family and you go shopping, to the movies and other free time activities during the weekend. You are going to write a play which different situations that happen to you while in Spain.
This project can be done by 2 or three people. Each of the participants are contributing with same amount of work/time/dramatisation the day of the presentation in class. Your project contains: all the vocabulary we have learned during the last 4 terms. It shows your understanding of the Spanish culture. It is entertaining and fun. FOR THE DAY OF THE PRESENTATIONS which will take place during ONE DAY this time, we will transform our class in a theatre. RUBRIC: 10-9 points: your play contains each of the topics/vocabulary we have learned so far in Spanish: food and eating at a restaurant, family, free time activities, likes and dislikes, verbs (regular and irregular), clothes and going shopping. Each of the persons in the group speaks during the play more than 100 words in Spanish. Each participant is wearing different clothes/costumes and there is appropriate setting/scenery while the drama takes place. Time of performance in class: 10 minutes. 7-8 points: your play contains almost all the topics (missing one) we have learned in Spanish during the first four terms. Each of the persons speak at least 75 words in Spanish. There are some changes of clothes and scenery, Time of performance: 7 minutes. 5-6 points: your play contains only two or three topics we have learned in Spanish so far. Each person speaks at least 50 words in Spanish during the presentation. There are no changes of scenery and clothes. Time of performance: 5 minutes. Less than 5-6 points is considered FAIL. So students are encouraged to work for a higher grade!!!

PROYECTO PARA TERM #2
During term #2- Spanish 1 Class will be working on a new project. This time, students will be given
the freedom to work individually or in twos. Also, students will be given the opportunity to chose
their own topic to prepare their projects.
The general topic for this Term is: "CULTURE on Spanish-speaking countries".
Students can chose anything related to cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking countries.
From music to food, from literature to art and football.
Students prepare a powerpoint presentation that will be due on Monday, Dec. 1st by e-mail to
[email protected]
Students then create a poster with their topic and will be then presenting to the class during the first
week of December.
The posters will be displayed around the school, so students are asked to use all their creativity and
talents to their best ability.
The rubrics will be based on: creativity, Spanish usage and teamwork. Maximum grade will be 30 points
for an excellent project. 20 points for a good one and 10 points for a poor project.

PROYECTO para TERM #1

I hope you really enjoy creating a very unique and personal project, and that you learn a lot by doing it!
The topic for your first project this term:
MAKE A BROCHURE FOR YOUR IDEAL VACATION PLACE on a Spanish-speaking country
A) ELECTION OF COUNTRY: Monday, September 29th: I will distribute and collect back, an A4 page with the name of every Spanish-speaking country. Each of you will chose a Spanish-speaking country and will start his/her personal research.
Each student will be given 5-10 minutes to present his/her individual project in front of the class. You may use your powerpoint presentation, sound or any other device to make your presentation interesting and fun for the class. Each student shall take about what research methods, websites and information he/she used. Introduce leaflet content and explain motivation, journey and intention for travel.
C) GRADING the PROJECT: the final grade for each project will be based on the quality of the content, material and oral presentation. The rubric will represent and include these aspects:
RUBRICS:
3 points- Project is very well organised and structured and includes valuable and accurate information. Oral presentation is part in Spanish/English with clear and correct sentences. Time used: 10 minutes. At least 60 written Spanish words should be included (not repeated)
2 points- Project offer information on a general basis, it covers several topics. Time used: 7 minutes. Presentation is done in English but includes a minimum of at least 40 written words in Spanish (not repeated)
1 point- Project contains basic information, it covers general topics. Time used: 5 minutes. Presentation is done in English and includes a minimum of at least 20 written words in Spanish. (not repeated)
0 point- Project has not been turned in ON TIME (by October 7th) and/or Student has not created a complete leaflet, and oral presentation.
At the end of all the presentations, students will be asked to chose the best three oral presentations. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd position. I will personally give a small GIFT to each winner. All the FINAL leaflets will be displayed in the class.

- What do you look for? We look for cultural information such as: ethnicity, food, festivals, pictures, geography, tourist attractions, places of interest, possible flights, climate...etc.
- Where do you look at? On websites such as: Tourist office of the country, airlines, embassy, restaurants, etc.
- How do you put things together? Once you have done your research, you create YOUR HOLIDAY BROCHURE. A Power point presentation or any other document form (including: pictures, sound and text) that you will submit by e-mail to me.
- When do you need to submit your final project it?: You are required to send your final document by e-mail to me by Tuesday, October 7th. (*** PROJECTS PRESENTED AFTER THIS DATE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED/GRADED)
